This site aims to tell you about how Nick Brown and Associates can support you and your school.

The core belief of the consultancy is that language and literacy development are fundamental to every young person achieving their potential in school, whether they are a pupil in Year 1 or a student in Year 13, whatever their language background. Every teacher of every subject needs to know how to develop the language and literacy skills of their pupils. We have the expertise to develop the skills that teachers, Learning and Academic Mentors, Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants need to do this. Whether you want to enhance the progress of EAL pupils or prepare 6th form students for the academic literacy they need for "A" level essays and university courses, we believe we have something to offer.

We also believe that good training events don't just happen; they need careful and expert planning. Teachers need to enjoy them, feel they are adding to their professional expertise and that they can leave with something they can use in their teaching the very next day. Our training events do this.

From 2004 until July 2011, the lead consultant, Nick Brown was the secondary EMA Consultant for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Previously he has been Teacher Trainer in a school in Southall, the English Language Teaching Adviser for the Caprivi Region in Namibia, ESOL Lecturer at Kingsway College, and Teacher of EAL, English and Drama in schools in London and Africa.
